How it works

What can I rent?

You can rent gear specifically designed for snorkeling, scuba diving, freediving, and paddle boarding. Gear for each activity is sized for men, women, and children of all sizes and shapes. Some gear you can reliably rent online without a professional fit. Some gear requires that one of our staff fit the gear to your face shape and/or body shape and size.

How does "try it before you buy it" work?

We rent what we sell. This policy is especially valuable when you are considering the purchase of high-end gear like the Scubapro Hydros Pro BCD or a Shearwater dive computer.

Rent the gear you are considering. When you return, you can apply the rental price to the purchase of a like item within six months of the end of your rental period.

This approach even works for scuba masks. When you are unsure of fit, rent the mask you want (or the mask that we recommend.) If it leaks or rubs, just return it and try again. If it is just what you wanted, apply the rental price to the purchase of the same mask.

What is "standard" scuba gear?

Our "standard" BCDs are Scubapro Glides and Bellas. These are jacket BCDs like those worn by our students. Our "standard" regulator systems are Scubapro MK11 C370s or older models of the same quality. Our "standard" dive computers are Scubapro Aladins in a console with gauges.

What is "demo" scuba gear?

"Demonstration" gear consists of high-end items that are more expensive to purchase - and more expensive to rent. It is gear you want to try before you make a purchase decision.

At Denver Divers we rent our most expensive BCD - the Scubapro Hydros Pro or Hydros X - as "demo" gear. We rent the Scubapro MK25 S620ti or the Atomic B2 as our "demo" regulators.

The Shearwater Teric, Perdix, and Peregrine dive computers are demonstration dive computers.

Finally, Scubapro's Super Nova fins can be rented as demo gear. Scuba masks that qualify include the Scubapro D-Series in small, medium and large skirts; the TUSA Paragon; and the Atomic Venom.

How do I find items to rent on this website?

Items to rent are displayed in a number of ways. You can rent items one at a time from the "Just Products" list accessed from Take a Look button at the bottom of the front top panel.

Farther down the screen are nine panels, topped by illustrative photos, that lead to collections of gear targeted to difference sports.

Each of the buttons at the bottom of panels takes you to gear that has been designed for the sport. Each also displays gear that has been bundled into packages that you can rent together for a slightly lowered bundled price.

If you want to rent gear for certification dives at either the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM, or Homestead Crater in Midway, UT, you can do so online. At the bottom of the site there are four smaller photos with hyperlinks at the bottom. Each should lead to a simple package of gear targeted to each site.

However, you will probably need to try on the wetsuit(s) and booties for the Blue Hole before you settle on a final package.
